CAMEROON ASAFE in the fight against poverty ASafe is a non-profit organisation, created in 1987, in which professionals support and assist the micro, small and medium- sized enterprises in general. ASAFE is a non-profit social enterprise, created in 1987, in which professionals support and assist the micro, small and medium- sized enterprises in general. It is a support and development structure in view of the promotion and the emancipation of women entrepreneurs and youths of the underprivileged psyche, that do not generally have access to services of existing institutions (state structures of assistance and training, classic banks, etc).. The Association for the Support to Women Entrepreneurs and youths, better known by its French acronym ASAFE, swung into full activities following 2 surveys carried out by Gisele Yitamben for the World Bank on Women groupings operating income generating units in 1991 and Small enterprises owned or managed by women in 1992. These surveys, revealed that economic structures owned or were managed by women were poorly structured. The initial mission of ASAFE was to reinforce the development capacities of women entrepreneurs through trainings in adapted management techniques and the development of alternative financing so as to make them better social and economic partners.
